Pinot Noir Ceres Plateau, Antallásso by Hanneke Kruger 2023

5.000000000 star rating 1 Reviews
Hanneke Krüger - former winemaker for Adi Badenhorst - made this graceful, nimble, strawberry-scented pinot noir from the same vineyard that Adi previously made his Bokveld pinot from, planted on Bokkeveld Shale in the high-elevation Ceres Plateau region. The owners are no longer selling the fruit and Hanneke feels lucky to have had access to it for three years; and we feel lucky to have secured all of this final vintage, beautifully named for a creative exchange between friends. This has the lightness and brightness of a cool-climate pinot, with almost imperceptible tannins, subtle whole-bunch spice and floral fragrance. Antallásso is the Greek word meaning ‘to barter,’ and is a reference to the fact that Marsi van der Heuvel, artist and friend of Hanneke, bartered the original artwork on this label for a few bottles of pinot.

Transparent ruby. Very light nose. Very pretty fruit indeed. Juicy, soft, with gentle Pinot character. Definitely not a wine to age, but there’s an intriguing graininess on the end. Good value.
