Touraine Malbec, Domaine Guenault 2024

Red Wine from France - Loire
3.500000000 star rating 6 Reviews
Only the second vintage produced by Bougrier under their family's own Domaine Guenault label, makes a great pair to the sauvignon blanc we have followed over many years. The 2024 is a very cool fresh vintage, so whilst there's depth of blue and black fruit, the palate is delightfully supple, floral and perfumed.

Bougrier

Maison Bougrier is a successful family-owned négociant company in the Loire founded in 1885 now run by the fifth generation of Bougriers. The company has significant domaine and winery holdings in three major areas: Touraine, Anjou and Muscadet giving it full control over vineyards, grapes and production in a number of sites.

The Touraine area produces whites from both chenin blanc and sauvignon blanc grape varieties. Bougrier’s premium white from Touraine is made from 100% sauvignon blanc grapes and was originally labelled for us as The Society’s Touraine Sauvignon, now sold under the Les Hauts Lieux label.

Domaine Guénault is one of the family’s own properties and situated on steep slopes overlooking the Cher river, which gives the grapes excellent sun exposure. The sauvignon here is grassy and scented and a popular choice as an aperitif.
