Zephyr 6 Marlborough Chardonnay 2022
From ex-Wither Hills winemaker Ben Glover, this stands out from the Marlborough crowd for its perfect use of oak barrels and subtle toasty note on the nose. Flinty, complex and with plenty of personality, this is a taut chardonnay with citrus, spice and a mealy savoury character.
A. A. Badenhorst Curator White, Coastal Region 2024
Not many under-£10 whites can be described as ‘the whole package, with so many layers and a pleasing balance of freshness and texture.' However, that’s exactly what how our Wine Champions tasters summed up this incredible-value, chenin-led, stone-fruited blend from a South African star. With the texture and rich apricot fruit to handle spice, this is a delight.
The Society's French Chardonnay 2024
A cross-regional chardonnay from France and the best of two worlds. Fruit from warmer areas of southern France provides body and weight, with grapes sourced from the foothills of the Pyrenees adding freshness and elegance. Dry, clean and crisp, this would be perfect with roast chicken or quiches.
Rata Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2025
Made by James Macdonald, winemaker at the iconic Marlborough winery, Hunter's, this is fresh and zesty with mouthwatering pineapple and lime-peel aromas. A consistently popular wine which is irresistibly refreshing. Produced using grapes which have been sourced by Hunters from growers across the region of Marlborough.
Koyle Costa Rapel Coastal Cuarzo Sauvignon Blanc 2025
Bright and fresh nettle-scented sauvignon blanc from a very cool coastal vineyard near Paredones, just over 5 miles from the Pacific, with granite and quartz soils. Made from three parcels with differing aspects. It was kept on its yeast lees to enrich the mid palate, and there is no oak.
Adega de Pegões Colheita Seleccionada Branco, Península de Setúbal 2025
A blend of four grape varieties: arinto and verdelho for their freshness and citrus flavours, chardonnay and antão vaz for structure and texture. The wine spent a short time in French and American oak barrels, with bâtonnage, to add richness and complexity of flavour. A wine with surprising complexity combined with adaptability at its price level, to complement grilled and battered fish, white meats, or try it with a vegetable terrine.
