Alheit Cartology, Western Cape 2025

Code: SA26261
White
A taut, tense, crystalline rendition of what is now a Cape classic, this blends chenin blanc from nine dryland bush vine sites of 40 to 60 years in age (in the Skurfberg, Piekenierskloof, Malmesbury, Paardeberg, Bottelary, False Bay and Tygerberg) with 7% semillon from the legendary old La Colline block in Franschhoek, planted in 1936. Since the seminal bottling of the first Cartology (from the 2011 vintage), Chris and Suzaan Alheit have only ‘lost’ one of the chenin sites that went into the original wine. Savoury and restrained on the nose immediately on opening, with oxygen this unfurls to reveal fynbos, pear, honeycomb, and a whisper of toasted sourdough. An intense and focused Cartology, understated now in its youth but poised with latent energy, this has so much elegance and finesse. A very mineral, linear expression this vintage but there is also beautiful texture here, which will only develop further and further in bottle. Bottled under Diam30. Drink from 2028 to 2038. 13%

Alheit Hereafter Here Chenin Blanc, Western Cape 2025

Code: SA26251
White
Debuting with the 2020 vintage, the vineyard make-up of Hereafter Here has shifted from originally being a two-block blend of young chenin blanc from Stellenbosch to this vintage comprising young vineyard parcels from the Swartland (close to Malmesbury) and Piekenierskloof, and from the Bottelary and the Polkadraai in Stellenbosch, as well as some older vineyard components from the Paardeberg and Tygerberg. Aromas of apple, wax, lemon rind, wet stone and white flowers lead to a bracing, vividly fresh palate with incisive acidity and linear drive. This will gain weight and texture in the mid-palate with longer in bottle and we would recommend waiting until at least 2027 but ideally later in 2028 before starting to drink. Pure, bright, and super fresh, this has a citrussy streak this vintage, delivering an electric bolt of energy. Really long and persistent. Bottled under Diam10. Drink from 2027 to 2033. 13%
£48.00 Case of 3 (£21.33/litre)
