Wines included
The Society's Australian Shiraz 2020
Aside from being good people, Bleasdale also make wines that consistently overperform, even in more challenging vintages. This is a prime example. It's wonderfully vibrant, bold, generous and fruity, with flavours of black cherry, blueberry and blackberry.
Weinert Carrascal Malbec 2020
Big, round and fruity Argentine malbec matured 18 months in old oak foudres of 2000 to 9000-litres until tannins are sweet and soft. It comes from Finca Besares in Lujan de Cuyo, a small eight-hectare vineyard located in Chacras de Coria that was planted circa 1950. It has a natural low yield of about 42/ha. This is also Fair for Life certified for their ethical approach to their work.
Papa Luna Garnacha-Syrah-Mazuelo, Calatayud 2020
A big, rich, plump and peppery Spanish red for lipsmacking chorizo nibbles or flame-grilled red and yellow peppers.
The Wolftrap, Western Cape 2021
Super reliable, rich and spicy South African blend of Swartland syrah, with mourvèdre and a splash of viognier. This comes from Boekenhoutskloof, one of the loveliest old farms on the Western Cape.
Isola della Fiamma, Nero d'Avola Sicilia, Cantine Rallo 2021
This full-bodied, blackberry-scented red seems soaked in the Sicilian sun, but having been grown at relative high altitude it has retained a lovely freshness on the finish.
Minervois, Plaisir d'Eulalie, Château Sainte Eulalie 2021
Generous, ripe and full-flavoured red, round and plummy in a vintage where very low yields concentrated flavours in the juice.
