Exhibition Mixed Case
Wines included
The Society's Exhibition Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2021
An elegant, mineral, citrusy Kiwi classic with a nod in style to the sauvignons of France. The excellent quality of 2021 is deliciously apparent and despite a very short harvest, Marlborough pioneer Jane Hunter has, yet again, come through for us.
The Society's Exhibition Mendoza Malbec 2020
Aromatic and floral malbec with a succulent palate redolent of plums and damsons, softened by just under a year in barrel. This Argentine classic is crafted for us by Catena from a selection of Mendoza's top-performing high-altitude vineyards.
The Society's Exhibition Tasmanian Chardonnay 2020
Unmistakable Tasmanian coolness and poise, courtesy of Claudio Radenti of Freycinet. Its lemon and green-apple flavours, subtle oak notes and chalky, mineral finish favour a shameless triple-crème cheeses like Brillat-Savarin or Explorateur.
The Society's Exhibition Haut-Médoc 2017
An attractive Haut-Médoc from Château Beaumont Supple with fine tannins, and appealing, perfumed fruit. Almost equal parts cabernet sauvignon and merlot, with a splash of petit verdot adding spice. Easy-drinking left bank Claret which hits the spot.
The Society's Exhibition Fleurie 2021
Attractive, floral Fleurie, in keeping with its name, with scented red-fruit notes on the palate. A fresher style in 2021 than in recent rather warm vintages. Our most popular 'cru' Beaujolais by some considerable distance.
The Society's Exhibition Soave 2021
Pieropan make this Soave exclusively for The Wine Society, allowing us to be involved in the blending, which this year is 80% garganega from a vineyard just above the famous Calvarino plot, in the western (warmer) part of Soave with 20% trebbiano di Soave from Calvarino itself. Its oyster-shell, apple and lemon flavours are elegant and crisp. Pieropan`s elegant gift to our Exhibition range drew a chorus of superlatives (‘delicious`; fantastic`; ‘a lovely wine`) from our tasting panel as they voted it a Wine Champion for 2023. A credit to Italy buyer Sarah Knowles MW, who was on blending duty!
