White Wine from Austria - Lower Austria
From the same producers who brought us a Gemischter Satz which was a firm favourite with members this year. This is a characterful and friendly white wine from Austria's native grüner veltliner grape, with aromas of apricots, peppercorns and a mouthwatering citrus twist. The palate is dry and refreshing, with prickly pear and a touch of tropical fruit through to the finish. The Mantler family are based in the sleepy Lower Austrian town of Ebersbrunn, where they run their small estate. The winery is now managed by Thomas Mantler, possibly the smiliest man in Austria, and his wife Sarah, with Thomas' brother Benedikt now heavily involved too. Between them they have brought their family farm into the 21st century, producing excellent-value wines, whilst maintaining the rustic charm of a small family agriculture business.
