Blauer Spätburgunder, Pfalz, Weingut Knipser 2019

This beautifully mature German pinot noir charmed our Wine Champions tasters into voting it a 2026 winner. A wine of ‘tension, brightness and freshness’ with ‘sweet fruit combined with a savoury element to balance it.’

Weissburgunder Kalk, Weingut Jülg 2023

A really cool and unique estate where they have vineyards in Germany (Pfalz) and France (Alsace), based on the border and labelled as German wine. Here Johannes Jülg has created a pinot blanc with precision and character, displaying lemon verbena, white blossom and apple aromas and hints of spice with a creaminess adding breadth. The latest generation, Johannes took over from his father in 2011, having studied in Burgundy and worked at Clos des Lambrays. The focus is now on quality having joined the prestigious VDP organisation of top German estates in 2021 and conversion to organic status the same year, with certification from 2024 vintage.

Germany £17.00 per bottle
2024 - 2027

Wachenheimer Riesling, Bürklin-Wolf 2024

Bürklin-Wolf has wonderful biodynamically cultivated vineyards in Wachenheim which prove their quality in this charming, fragrant, complex and bone-dry riesling.

Germany £21.00 per bottle
2025 - 2030

The Society's Exhibition Spätburgunder 2024

Our third vintage of the successful Exhibition Spätburgunder has been produced by a young winemaker in the Pfalz, Vincent Eymann, whose estate has been working organically and biodynamically for many years. The 2024 vintage was cooler than both the 2023 and 2022 vintages and is reflected in crushed strawberries, red currant and red plums combined with lots of energy on the palate. Tannins are fine grained and the wine is incredibly well balanced.

Germany £14.50 per bottle
2026 - 2028

3 Trauben, Pfalz, Heinrich Spindler 2024

This bone-dry, crisp and aromatic white is lightweight with tangy acidity. The blend of weissburgunder, riesling and sauvignon blanc is produced by the Spindler family based in the Pfalz, showing grassy, citrus and white peach notes with a hint of white pepper spice.

Germany £13.50 per bottle
2026 - 2028

Pfalz Chardonnay vom Kalkmergel trocken, Weingut Andres Deidesheim, 2025

Brothers Michael and Thomas Andres have taken over this family estate in the Pfalz and have started to gain a following for their precise, reductive style of winemaking. This bone-dry chardonnay comes from limestone marl soils of the villages of Ruppertsberg, Haardt and Wachenheim. Aged in large barrels, the wine displays purity of white peach, pear and blossom combined with a citrus core and chalky, saline finish. Refreshing but with restrained concentration.
