Only a few miles east of Soave is the much smaller district of Gambellara, where great hillside parcels of garganega are used to make this charming crisp white wine. An attractive peach and apple-scented wine, with a dry linear style, developing chalk and pear on the palate. A cinch with creamy pasta sauces.

Cantina di Gambellara
The Cantina of Gambellara was founded in 1947 and has nearly 300 members farming 600 hectares in the small denomination on the border between the provinces of Vicenza and Verona, only a few miles east of Soave. The latter is much the bigger region and Gambellara is a little known appellation outside of Italy but the locals love it! They merged in 2015 with the Cantina dei Colli Vicentini and the talented Alberto Marchisio is now responsible for winemaking using fruit grown on the local volcanic soils.
