London - Vintage Port 2024 En Primeur Walkaround

25 Sep 2026 6:00 - 08:30 pm

Part of The Wine Society’s first Port En Primeur release in several years, this special event offers members a rare opportunity to explore the outstanding declared 2024 vintage alongside some of the Douro’s most celebrated producers. Representatives from leading houses including Taylor’s, Dow’s, Warre’s and Quinta do Noval will be on hand to present and discuss their wines, with the focus firmly on the newly released 2024 vintage ports that will be offered en primeur. To place these wines in context and demonstrate their remarkable capacity to evolve over time, each producer will also pour a mature vintage port for tasting. This unique side-by-side experience offers fascinating insight into both the youthful promise of 2024 and the complexity, character and longevity that have made vintage port one of the world’s greatest fine wines.

Part of The Wine Society’s first Port En Primeur release in several years, this special event offers members a rare opportunity to explore one of the most exciting moments in the fine wine calendar. The highly anticipated 2024 vintage has attracted significant attention in the Douro, and this event provides the chance to taste and compare a selection of the wines that will be offered through our en primeur campaign.

We are delighted to be joined by representatives from some of the region’s most celebrated producers, including Taylor’s, Dow’s, Warre’s and Quinta do Noval, alongside other leading houses. Throughout the tasting, producers and representatives will be available to discuss the vintage, their winemaking decisions and what makes 2024 such a compelling year for vintage port.

To place these young wines in context, each producer will also pour a mature vintage port for tasting. These older wines are not part of the en primeur offer but provide a fascinating opportunity to see how the wines evolve over decades, developing extraordinary complexity, nuance and depth. Together, the youthful energy of the 2024s and the maturity of these older examples offer a unique insight into the enduring greatness of vintage port.

Producers in attendance:

Symington Family Estates

One of the most influential names in Port, the Symington family has been producing wine in Portugal since 1882, though their roots in the trade stretch back to 1652 through ancestors who were among the earliest Port merchants. Today, the fifth generation oversees some of the Douro’s finest vineyards and most historic estates, playing a central role in preserving the region’s winemaking heritage. They successfully balance traditional methods such as foot treading in granite lagares with significant investment in innovation. Their Ports are renowned for ripe fruit, freshness and balance, combining refinement, elegance and impressive approachability.

Taylors Fladgate

Founded in 1692, Taylor's is one of Port's oldest and most revered producers, remaining independent and family-owned to this day. Renowned for its unwavering focus on quality and some of the Douro's finest vineyard holdings, Taylor's has built its reputation on Vintage Ports of exceptional structure, concentration and longevity. Their distinctive house style combines intense dark fruit, firm tannins and remarkable freshness, creating wines that can reward decades of cellaring.

Quinta do Noval

One of the Douro’s most historic estates, Quinta do Noval has long championed a vineyard-led approach, producing Ports that express the character of the estate as much as the house style. This commitment is exemplified by their legendary Nacional bottling, one of Port’s most sought-after wines. Since joining AXA Millésimes in 1993, the group has expanded its presence in the Douro through the acquisition of neighbouring Quinta do Passadouro. Their Ports combine concentration and power with remarkable freshness, purity and aromatic lift.
