Sabina Tempranillo, Navarra 2024
A modest, inexpensive Spanish red from the country's most famous grape. This is smooth, fruity and more mellow than usual with a touch of cedar. Everything about Bodegas Príncipe de Viana is vast. Owners of over 400 hectares of vines in Navarra, they control a further 500 hectares, but the winemaking approach is sensitive and modest, aiming always for clean, balanced flavours and offering superb value for money. It makes a delicious partner to Serrano ham and other Spanish charcuterie.
Château Virevalois, Bordeaux 2023
The follow-on vintage to the hugely popular 2022, this is slightly lighter and more fruit-forward as is the style with 2023 but no less appealing. Plum, strawberry and dark cherry on the nose with a lightly structured, juicy palate with plenty of charm. A great-value, anyday claret that's also available in bag in box.
Grove Mill Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2025
An excellent New Zealand sauvignon blanc bursting with vibrant peach, lime and passionfruit aromas, lifted by subtle grassy freshness. The palate is bright and zesty, balancing ripe tropical fruit with crisp citrus and a clean, mineral finish that reflects Marlborough’s Wairau Valley. Grove Mill, sustainability pioneers in this renowned region, craft their wines with a light environmental footprint, combining expressive flavour with delicate practices. The 2025 vintage captures the variety’s hallmark vibrancy and poise, offering a refreshing, impeccably balanced glass that’s as thoughtful as it is delicious.
Baccolo Appassimento Rosso Veneto 2024
A members favourite, this popular Veneto red's opulent style is achieved by partial natural air-drying of the grapes (a mix of merlot and corvina) to add richness. There's bags of black cherry and leather on the nose, with more spice developing on the palate and finish. This is a great wine to pair with rich stews, roast dinners or mid week lasagne.
Familie Mantler Gemischter Satz, Niederösterreich 2025
We know what you drank last summer… and it’s back! And it's a 2026 Wine Champion to boot. The new vintage of this barnstormingly popular, delicately spritzy Austrian white has won our buyers' blind tasting yet again. With its ‘refreshing, sparky acidity’, ‘exuberant, vibrant fruit’ and low alcohol, it’s an absolute peach of a wine.
Ventoux Les Traverses, Paul Jaboulet Aîné 2024
We are thrilled that star producer Paul Jaboulet Aîné produce this wine exclusively for The Wine Society. Fruity, juicy and plenty of character, always vibrant thanks to its Mont Ventoux origins. This member favourite is predominately grenache with a little syrah in the blend. Expect a delicious palate of red berries, liquorice and red plums with a touch of spice. There's lots of energy thanks to a slightly cooler 2024 vintage.
Sauvignon Blanc 'Pure Vallée' Vin de France, Famille Bougrier 2025
This zippy white combines Loire and southern French fruit for a delicate, grassy and slightly tropical aroma with a fresh, creamy finish.
Duo Des Mers Sauvignon-Viognier, Vin de France 2025
Fragrant, fruity, full-flavoured southern French white, the happy marriage of two worlds with crisp sauvignon coming from Gascony and full-bodied, peachy viognier coming from Languedoc.
Cantoiseau Blanc, Vin de France 2025
‘Like biting into a Granny Smith apple’, this southern French zinger jumped out at our Wine Champions tasters with its ‘sherbetty acidity, freshness and crunch.’ One noted that ‘people who like sauvignon blanc are going to love this.’ And what a great price, too.
Vermentino Sicilia, Mandrarossa 2025
Our Wine Champions tasters summed it up perfectly as it swept to victory in our 2026 tastings: ‘Peachy, lemony, charming and easy-drinking. This would be lovely served chilled on a nice sunny day – preferably in Italy.’ Need we add anything more? Enjoy!
Cuvée Laborie Rouge, Pays d'Oc 2025
A classic Languedoc blend of carignan and grenache, with a splash of merlot adding suppleness. Brilliant value southern French red delivering fresh, uncomplicated fruit and soft tannins.
Lascar Classic Carmenère 2025
This Chilean carmenère is a good entry-level example of this variety, with its black-pepper nose and ripe, juicy and succulent palate.
