Three generations of the Jaume family farm some 200 acres of vineyard in the southern Rhône village of Vinsobres. The climate here is influenced by Alpine foothills so that cooling breezes play on the vines, preserving fresh fruit flavours in the wines. Easy-drinking, yet full-flavoured and food friendly and a Decanter World Wine Awards bronze medal winner 2021.

Full of deliciously ripe and brambly fruit, this Languedoc blend of grenache, carignan and a little merlot consistently hits the sweet spots for flavour, price and quality. No wonder this great-value southern French red has been a fixture in members` wine racks for many years.

This clever blend of Gascon sauvignon blanc`s lemony crispness and Languedoc viognier`s fragrant apricotty charm went down just as well with our Wine Champions tasters as it does with the many members who buy it so enthusiastically each year. We are pleased to confirm the 2020 is an excellent year for this popular thirst quencher!

Lascar Classic Carmenere 2020

This marriage of two Rhône grape varieties from the Minervois/Saint-Chinian border is now a firm and deserving member favourite. Fresh, round and moreishly fruity white wine from the deep south of France.

Muscadet Sevre et Maine sur Lie Domaine des Ratelles 2019

This plump, satisfying Spanish red melds strawberry and cherry fruits with a silky palate and a touch of vanilla from ageing in high-quality oak barrels. Supple enough to be enjoyed on its own, this also deserves to be the centrepiece star for a leg of lamb or gently spiced, root-filled roast.

2020 is a cracking vintage for this rich and generously fruity South African red with floral perfume enhanced by a sprinkling of spice.

Very high scores were awarded to this excellent-value, vivid, vibrant and friendly Loire sauvignon in our 2021 Wine champions blind tastings. Its lemony, grassy aroma, gentle texture and clean, high-toned citrusy fruit deliver an awful lot of refreshment and quality for a fantastic price.

Fistful of Schist Reserve Chenin Swartland 2021

Straightforward but attractive chardonnay from Chile, round yet fresh with fruit in the melon spectrum.

The brothers who jointly owned Chateau Lary have split this Bordeaux property, and Lary Tagot comes from one half of the vineyard. Ripe, fleshy and satisfying, and unoaked to ensure maximum fruit expression, this is an impressive claret at this price level. Delicious now, it will develop further with a little time and provide a great deal of drinking pleasure.
