Online- Champagne masterclass with Nicolas Jaeger
As we approach the celebrations of Christmas and New Year, what better way to get our head round bubbles than to spend an evening with the master, Nicolas Jaeger – fourth generation chef de cave at Alfred Gratien, The Society’s longest-standing supplier.
Alfred Gratien’s chef de cave Nicolas Jaeger, in the company of our Champagne buyer Sarah Knowles MW and the Tastings Team’s Ewan Murray will talk through the different styles of Champagne and the way it is made, with particular reference to how Gratien does things. Do you know your NV from your Vintage, your Blanc de Blancs from your prestige cuvée? Nicolas will divulge some open secrets, as well as talk us through the wines he makes and that we sell. So crack open a bottle of your favourite fizz and enjoy an effervescent hour in the company of The Wine Society.

Now one of our most popular offerings, these events are designed to give members an insight into wineries by hearing from those on the ground. Often there will be wines to compliment the event, though buying these wines is not compulsory to attend or enjoy the event, and these sessions can be watched with a cup of tea if you would prefer!
