Following the success of our previous white wines of Portugal masterclass we’re now turning our attention to the country’s red wine regions and grape varieties.
The Wine Society have won five out of the last six IWC Portugal Specialist Merchant of the Year awards (including this year’s award), and we are also current Decanter Spain and Portugal Specialist Retailer of the Year. Jo Locke MW, our buyer for Portugal, champions indigenous varieties and celebrates the diverse terroir that the country has to offer. These wines can seem unfamiliar, even intimidating, at first, but once discovered these gems of Portugal cannot be forgotten.
Dynamic winemaking influenced by tradition has become de rigueur in regions like the Douro, Dão and Bairrada with their red wines increasingly gaining popularity and respect, not least with Society members!
Wines for this event will be released on the week of 20th September.
