Online - 'Sipsize' - The Big 5: An Introduction to Pinot Noir
This week’s session dips its toe into one of the most the perplexing grape varieties in the world – pinot noir. Famed for producing some of the most expensive wines on the planet, for being notoriously hard to grow, and for being such a distinctive character that it has garnered super-fans all round the world.
Anna will cover the origins of this variety, its natural character and its fickle nature. Then we’ll be dipping into its heartland of Burgundy before exploring other expressions and styles from around the world, including Germany, Australia, New Zealand and more.
The three wines that Anna has chosen to taste through the session can be found below. You’re welcome to buy one, two or all three; or simply join with a cup of tea!

Our online tutored events are one of the most popular styles at The Wine Society. Drawing on a wealth of knowledge from our tasting team, our buyers, and sometimes our producers, we love giving our members the opportunity to learn with us and broaden their understanding of the vast world of wine.
