The Wine Society has been named as the UK’s leading green wine business at the 2023 Drinks Business Green Awards.

Taking home not one, but two trophies from the awards ceremony held at The Ivy, London, The Wine Society was named Green Retailer of the Year before then being awarded the title of overall Green Company of the Year at the drinks industry’s only dedicated green awards.

The judges described The Society as ‘a sustainable leader’ and ‘an impressively ethical retailer’, mentioning our ‘ambitious, externally-approved carbon reduction targets, and a publicised 10-year roadmap to become as green as possible.’

We couldn’t do this without the support and commitment of our producers; the judging panel in particular mentioned our ‘large and diverse supply base, who are expected to conform to this retailer’s tough green goals.’, and we’ll continue to work with all our producers towards an even more sustainable future.

We also want to thank our members who are a crucial part of our strategy, from getting involved with our alternative packaging trials to providing feedback on our sustainability action, and letting us know how we can keep helping you to enjoy more sustainable wines.

Thank you – and here’s to growing even more sustainably in 2024!
