I’m delighted to offer two of the summits of our current Fine Wine Spotlight – a pair of special collections from two leading Piedmont addresses, Anselma in Barolo and Produttori del Barbaresco. Wines are often released as ‘vertical’ cases, which showcase the same wine in different vintages. These fantastic selections, however, are ‘horizontal’, showcasing the nuances of different sites in the same vintage. Each is an opportunity that any lover of the nebbiolo grape will not want to miss.

Anselma Barolo 2016: a bespoke four-bottle collection
This is a bespoke four-bottle case, put together for members from stock that Anselma are kindly releasing specially from their cellars. All are from the outstanding 2016 vintage and should not be missed.
Maurizio Anselma’s selection features three single-commune Barolos, which beautifully illustrate the differences between these special vineyards. The fourth bottle is his ‘Famiglia Anselmo Barolo Classico’, a skilful blend of the three previous wines to make something more than the sum of its parts.
Produttori del Barbaresco 2021 Collectors’ Case
This is a golden opportunity to drink the unique terroirs of Barbaresco, courtesy of one of its top names and the remarkably good 2021 vintage.
This very limited nine-bottle collectors' mixed case contains one bottle of each of Produttori del Barbaresco's vineyards ('crus'): Pora, Paje, Rio Sordo, Muncagota, Ovello, Asili, Montestefano, Montefico and Rabaja. Each displays the fascinating differences of the crus from which they come in a compelling way, making this case a must-have for lovers of fine nebbiolo.
This is an opportunity no nebbiolo lover should miss, and I’m very excited to be able to share them with you.
