First release: Minimalist 2025

Sam Lambson’s very first Minimalist wine was the 2018 vintage of Stars in the Dark, made while he was still a student at Stellenbosch University; so this incredible cool-climate Cape Agulhas syrah is fast approaching its tenth anniversary, and Sam is not yet 30. Always an intensely aromatic style, the perfume on the 2025 is stupendous – so lifted and detailed! With dark liquorice, abundant green peppercorn and fennel spice, and a sea-salty, kelpy expression on the nose. The palate is medium-bodied, tense and tucked-in, with black plum and green olive inflections and firm, edgy tannins. It’s a superb rendition of Stars in the Dark, one which needs oxygen – and time – to unwind. Drink from 2028 to 2035. 13.5%

No Place Like Home comes from Elgin, from three hectares at the top of a farm, which Sam Lambson and his team tend themselves. Beautifully fragrant in the 2025 vintage with wildflowers and black cardamon spice, this has a pliant texture and concentrated black cherry and black plum fruit, wrapped in moreish sappy tannins, and all of the thrilling freshness we expect from this site. Sam loves vintages like the 2025, he says: ‘vintages which walk the tightrope between power and elegance'. Drink from 2027 to 2035. 13.4%
