I always look forward to tasting the latest releases from Spottswoode, one of Napa Valley's truly iconic family estates, but the 2022 vintage left a particular impression on me. Despite the challenges of the growing season, these are wines of remarkable composure, proving once again why Spottswoode remains a benchmark for elegant cabernet sauvignon.

The estate's long-standing commitment to organic farming, biodiversity and regenerative viticulture came into its own in 2022. Careful vineyard management and thoughtful picking decisions produced wines with wonderful purity, freshness and balance, despite the extremes of the season. The Novak family's philosophy has always been to nurture healthy, resilient vines, and the 2022s are a fine example of what that patient approach can achieve.
There is wonderful precision to both wines, combining the generosity of Napa Valley fruit with a freshness and refinement that make Spottswoode so distinctive. They are approachable in their youth, yet possess all the balance and structure to reward long-term cellaring.
Stocks are inevitably limited, and I very much hope you are able to add a few bottles to your cellar.
