Reyneke is one of the most recognised names in South Africa, not just for the quality of their wines but also for their industry-leading approach to viticulture.
Situated on an enviable granitic outcrop within the highly sought-after Polkadraai Hills of Stellenbosch, Reyneke became South Africa’s first – and only – biodynamically certified estate in 2000 and has been at the forefront of sustainable farming ever since.

The talismanic founder, Johan Reyneke, is an inspiration to many in the wine world for his land-sparing, land-caring philosophy and his application of regenerative viticulture. By focusing on soil health and increasing biodiversity, he is helping to secure the future of the vine for generations to come. This has included rewilding a portion of their land with endemic plant species for which they received funding from our annual Climate and Nature programme.
A key part of this journey has been a recent rebrand – not only of Reyneke’s packaging, which sees a significant reduction in bottle weight, but also of their range of wines creating a clearer, better-defined offering. On a visit to Reyneke last year, I was fortunate enough to get a sneak peek at the new range and knew instantly that these wines would be worthy of a First Release.
These wines are not only built to last, but they also represent the culmination of nearly a quarter-century of dedication from the Reyneke team. They reflect an ethos that we at The Wine Society are proud to champion – now and long into the future.
