Being in the right place at the right time can work wonders when it comes to wine buying. I was delighted to secure, on behalf of Society members, a parcel of one of Australia's most revered fine wines at an exceptional one-off price.
Order by midday on Friday 7th August
Yarra Yering is one of Australia's great estates. It was founded in 1969 by Dr Bailey Carrodus, it has been at the forefront of premium wine production in Victoria ever since, with the iconic Dry Red Wine No.1 leading the charge. Predominantly cabernet sauvignon, supported by merlot, malbec and petit verdot, it represents a more classical expression of the Yarra Valley and has earned admiration from critics, journalists and Australian wine lovers for decades.
When I learned that the winery was changing UK distribution, I was fortunate to come across a parcel of stock seeking a new home. I tasted a range of recent vintages side by side and the 2019 stood out immediately for its balance, poise and ageing potential.
Some members may remember that we offered a small parcel of this wine last autumn. This latest opportunity allows us to offer it once again and at a price that would normally be impossible for a wine of this calibre.
Opportunities like this are rare. To secure a wine of such pedigree, provenance and maturity at this price is something special and I would strongly encourage anyone who enjoyed the previous release, or who has yet to experience Yarra Yering, to take advantage while stocks last.
