Alsace Riesling Case
Wines included
Riesling Grand Cru Saering, Domaines Schlumberger 2022
From one of the great cellars in Alsace, this is a wonderful single vineyard Grand Cru riesling that has plenty of character and concentration from a vintage with plenty of sunshine. The altitude of 300 metres gives the wine a refreshing palate that combines perfectly with a juicy and concentrated core. Expect ripe stone fruits such as yellow plum as well as hints of jasmine and ginger. A wine that would pair perfectly with a Thai curry or food with spice.
Riesling, Domaine Dopff au Moulin 2020
From a longstanding family estate and pioneers of Alsace Cremant, Dopff au Moulin are based in the picturesque village of Riquewihr. This pithy and lively riesling has plenty to offer with juicy stone fruits and citrus and is a perfect pairing with salads, quiche and soft goats cheese.
Riesling Bollenberg, Domaine Camille Braun 2024
Annabelle Braun is 11th generation of her family to run this estate in Orschwihr, Alsace and she has moved it even further forward. Converted to organic and biodynamic viticulture in the early 2000s, this is a high-quality estate with a diversity of soils. Coming from two slopes and with vines planted on clay, limestone soils this riesling has plenty of freshness and focus. Juicy, floral and fleshy peach aromas are supported with a juicy, fresh acidity on the palate. Perfect as an aperitif wine or great with white fish and roast chicken.
Riesling Ostenberg, Domaine Loew 2023
Domaine Loew was only set up in 1996 by Etienne Loew and the estate remains small at just over six hectares. This cru vineyard is situated on a south-facing hillside on Muschelkalck (a kind of limestone) produces a powerful yet intensely mineral and pure style of riesling. There is so much going on in the glass that this wine will not disappoint those riesling lovers among you with its abundance of yellow fruits and spice.
Riesling Belzbrunnen, Domaine Dirler-Cadé 2019
This small, family run estate is farmed biodynamically and produces excellent wines including this structured riesling from a top vineyard site. Bone dry and mineral, with notes of tangerine and white blossom with some dried orange peel notes. Southern Alsace is famous for its sandstone and dry climate, which give the wines added weight and breadth.
The Society's Exhibition Alsace Riesling 2021
Classically honed dry riesling from the Hugel family's own estate vineyards, showing smoky notes on the nose, with juicy acidity on the palate and sappy minerality on its long, complex finish.
