Anyday Chardonnay Case
Wines included
The Society's French Chardonnay 2024
A cross-regional chardonnay from France and the best of two worlds. Fruit from warmer areas of southern France provides body and weight, with grapes sourced from the foothills of the Pyrenees adding freshness and elegance. Dry, clean and crisp, this would be perfect with roast chicken or quiches.
Maison Jean-Marc Aujoux, Mâcon-La Roche Vineuse 2023
Round, soft, gently fruity, unoaked chardonnay with a ripe honeydew melon character. A well priced wine from Jean-Marc Aujoux, the suppliers of The Society's White Burgundy. No capsule to save packaging.
A Fistful of Schist Reserve Chardonnay, Swartland 2025
Impressive but easy-drinking oaked chardonnay from warm Swartland vineyards in South Africa, light enough to drink on its own but with enough body for the table. Ripe melon and peach meld with a touch of sourdough and spice.
Bolgrad Odesa Chardonnay 2024
This Ukranian wine comes from the Odesa region and is produced by Bolgrad winery, who are the biggest producer of still wine in the country. The vineyard location benefits from two opposing air masses coming from the fresh water Yalpug lake and the saline Black Sea. Not seeing any oak, this is a fresh and accessible style of chardonnay made from a producer making wine in very challenging circumstances. It blends the chardonnay with a little aligoté and in the 2024 vintage it is bright and energetic and full of classic stone-fruit and citrus notes.
Clay Creek Vineyards California Chardonnay 2023
With most of the fruit for this chardonnay coming from the cooler Clarksburg AVA in the Sacramento Delta, just east of San Francisco Bay, this has lovely freshness. Peach, pineapple and mango flavours are well balanced by generous vanilla oak on this great anyday chardonnay.
Silbador Chardonnay 2025
Ripe yet fresh Chilean chardonnay in the apple and melon spectrum from organic vineyards. One of our Wine Society Pioneers of wine production that is as sustainable as possible, the inspirational eco-friendly Emiliana focuses on maintaining healthy, living soils in all their vineyards, through sustainable agronomic practises. The result is that their vineyards teem with natural life, a perfect blend of predators and prey that forms a balanced vineyard ecosystem. The ‘Silbador' itself is an insect-eating bird found in the vineyards whose presence means that Emiliana do not have to use pesticides on their vines and other crops. Certified Carbon Neutral for the first time in 2008, Emiliana are now IMO, BCORP and Fairtrade certified too. People are important here. with staff guaranteed fair wages and treatment, college scholarships, allotments, profits from the sale of the produce of vineyard beehives and olive groves. Local schools are provided with computer and internet access. It's wonderful stuff.
