Anyday Chardonnay Mixed Case
Wines included
Maison Jean-Marc Aujoux, Mâcon-Villages 2024
Light appley aroma and flavour. A balanced wine that is ripe yet fresh, with some minerality, from the coolish 2024 vintage. This is made from vineyards near the village of Saint-Maurice-de-Satonnay and is supplied by the producer of our White Burgundy, Jean-Marc Aujoux. No capsule to save packaging.
The Society's Australian Chardonnay 2025
Made exclusively for The Wine Society by Yalumba, this is a refreshingly modern take on Australian chardonnay, a bright, generous white with melon, apricot and a twist of lime on the nose. There’s plenty of flavour, but it remains clean, crisp and effortlessly drinkable and is equally at home with food or served chilled from the fridge on its own. It’s not the bold, buttery style of the past. It’s a well-made, honest and delicious white from one of the most highly regarded producers in Australia, punching well above its weight and spot as a go-to fridge-door staple. Yalumba’s environmental credentials are equally impressive. They are 100% accredited by Sustainable Winegrowing Australia, a Silver Member of International Wineries for Climate Action (IWCA), and a partner in the UN’s Race to Zero initiative, aiming for carbon neutrality by 2050. Their winery has also been powered by solar energy since 2016 which is one of the largest systems of its kind in the country!
The Society's South African Chardonnay, Western Cape 2025
Produced exclusively for The Wine Society by winemaker Henk Swart at Deetlefs Estate in the Breedekloof - one of the oldest wine estates in South Africa - this is a generous, oaked Cape chardonnay with a round mouthfeel from ageing on its yeast lees. The majority of the fruit is sourced from the warm Breedekloof, with a small proportion from cooler Franschhoek, and then mostly fermented and matured in French oak barrels for spice and richness. Full-flavoured with ripe apple, lemon curd and apricot, this is a new – and great value – addition to the Society's own-label range.
Grove Mill Marlborough Chardonnay 2024
A fresh and inviting nose, showing citrus and white stone fruit, gently rounded out by subtle French oak leads to a palate that's textured and satisfying without feeling heavy. There’s a pleasing savoury note alongside hints of cashew and soft spice, adding depth and polish to the fruit. The warm, dry 2024 growing season delivered excellent fruit quality and that comes through clearly here, with good concentration and a sense of clarity rather than excess. Thoughtful viticulture and a strong focus on sustainability underpin the style, giving a chardonnay that feels modern and well judged. A delicious taste of good value Marlborough.
The Society's French Chardonnay 2025
When the more flexible Vin de France category was introduced, allowing wines from different French regions to be blended, we recognised there was an opportunity to come up with some fantastic-value wines for members. This chardonnay is one of them. We make it with Les Vins Aujoux, who are also behind our Society’s White Burgundy. Utilising their knowledge and excellent source material, we’ve been able to create something that brings together the best of two different worlds: fruit from warm southern vineyards brings body and weight, while grapes sourced from the foothills of the Pyrenees complement this with freshness and elegance. It takes a certain skill and knowledge to blend wines in this way and judge how the result will evolve, but we’ve been thrilled with the result. It’s a joint effort combining the knowledge and experience of both parties and results in making the best wine we can, and further enhances our relationship and mutual respect. When the more flexible Vin de France category was introduced, allowing wines from different French regions to be blended, we recognised there was an opportunity to come up with some fantastic-value wines for members.
