Beaujolais Case

This château is a magnificent edifice, now sadly in disrepair, high up in the northern hills near Juliénas. The cool spot makes an intense, deeply coloured, refreshing style of Beaujolais that can outshine many a cru.

A 2021 Wine Champion. As buyer Matthew Horsley put it, ‘the standard of Beaujolais this year was amazing`, and this exciting taste of the 2020 vintage showed why it`s a great opportunity to get acquainted or reacquainted with the wines. After two fuller-bodied vintages, the freshness of this well-balanced, cherry-fruited favourite certainly perked up the tastebuds.

Our most popular cru Beaujolais by some considerable distance, this is attractive, floral Fleurie – in keeping with its name – with intensely perfumed aromas and a ripe yet fresh palate.

From a high-altitude vineyard, this tastes more like a Côte de Brouilly with its refreshing, brambly fruit character and silky texture. Attractive, well-priced Beaujolais from an excellent vintage.

Côte de Brouilly is a hill in Beaujolais with vineyards at all points of the compass so it can produce wines of different levels of ripeness. This is a blend that captures both the ripeness of the 2020 vintage and the pure sweet fruit of this cru. Produced for us by Les Vins Aujoux, this showcases dark cherry, blackberry and spice flavours with a full, concentrated palate and supple tannin.

A supple and upfront Beaujolais with crunchy red-fruit character that was justly voted a 2023 Wine Champion. Well-balanced and with appealing freshness. The gamay grape, with its soft tannins and relatively light alcohol, lends itself perfectly to 30 minutes in the fridge before serving.
