Red Wine from Portugal - Dao
A beautifully delicate and aromatic expression of bastardo, fermented in granite lagares and aged for six months in concrete. Pale in colour and picked early in the season, it has an almost pinot noir-like fragrance, with lifted notes of redcurrant, wild herbs, violets and a gently lactic character reminiscent of red berry yoghurt. With air, the wine becomes increasingly floral and expressive. The palate is light, silky and wonderfully fresh, balancing juicy acidity with fine, lightly grippy tannins. Elegant, savoury and quietly complex, this is a remarkably distinctive, detailed and delicious red.
