Red Wine from Portugal - Douro Valley
A beautiful ruby red with a violet note in the glass, this enchanting Douro red opens with a lovely balance of berry and floral character. Deep tomato leaf and dark fruit notes sit alongside iron and earth. There is real depth here, but also freshness. The palate has a succulent juicy core developing to a slate-like minerality, giving shape and direction to the wine, while dark plum, cherry, blackberry and bramble fruit provide richness and generosity. A delicately savoury, meaty edge continues through the mid palate, adding complexity, before a toasty note emerges on the finish, reminiscent of caramelised Maillard flavours. Velvety tannins and lively acidity keep everything balanced and flowing, with no oak influence to blur the fruit. A characterful, fragrant yet controlled Douro tinto that combines dark fruit intensity with rose petal and a distinct savoury note.
