An attractive classed-growth claret from the exceptional 2016 vintage, the wine has medium body, supple sweet fruit and lovely purity. With tell-tale Pauillac grip on the finish this is a wine that will age well and provide plenty of pleasure.

Château Croizet-Bages

Château Croizet-Bages is a fifth-growth property in Pauillac that since 1968 has been in the capable hands of the Quie family (who also own Château Rauzan-Gassies and Château Tronquoy-de-Lalande). Since the acquisition, the family have invested heavily in all aspects of the property, renovating and replanting to drive quality upward.

The estate covers 30 hectares of gravelly and sandy soils on the Bages plateau, planted with cabernet sauvignon (60%), merlot (32%), and cabernet franc (8%) at a high density. The average age of the vines is 35 years following extensive replanting in the early 1980s. New oak is limited to about 25%. A second wine, La tourelles de Crozet-Bages was introduced in 1998, helping to improve the quality of the first.
