Chablis Mixed Case
Wines included
Samuel Billaud, Chablis Les Grands Terroirs 2021
A successful unoaked blend of three excellent village vineyards, Pargues, Cartes and Bas de Chapelot, this is a little rounder than usual with honeyed character from a hint of (not unattractive) noble rot, yet still with good tension and grip.
Domaine William Fèvre, Chablis Premier Cru Beauroy 2022
From vines between 55 and 60 years old, on a warm site that produces ripe and fruity wines. Attractive appley fruit, shot through with a fresh and lemony palate. Drink from 2026 to 2031.
Famille Grossot, Chablis 2022
Burgundy buyer Toby Morrhall has called this one of the best, freshest and brightest village Chablis he’d tasted recently. The rest of the team could only agree as it won a coveted spot on the Wine Champions podium: ‘subtle yet intense’, ‘mineral and saline’, ‘really ripe lemon’ and a ‘lip-smacking finish’ were among its qualities identified. A crystalline Champion with real cut and thrust.
The Society's Exhibition Chablis 2024
Bright, fresh and mineral, unoaked Chablis made for us by Jean-Marc Brocard, and kept on its yeast lees in tank to fill out the mid-palate.
Julien Brocard, Chablis Premier Cru Montée de Tonnerre 2024
Fine, crisp premier cru with linear shape, long and lean. Made from biodynamically farmed grapes. Domaine Brocard has 110 ha of organic and biodynamic vineyard. Chablis' climate is warming and the land is denuded with little vegetation, so Brocard are planting 30,000 trees by 2030 to combat erosion by wind, regulate the humidity of the soil, and increase the biodiversity by encouraging birds, bats, bees, insects and so on, while a cover crop is sown in order to protect the soil and make it naturally fertile.
Jean-Marc Brocard, Chablis Vignobles Sainte Claire Vieilles Vignes 2024
Made from vines planted in the Malantes vineyard, this is a wonderful pure, crystalline Chablis which would embarrass many a premier cru. The wonderful Malantes vineyard is situated on a hillside that runs roughly parallel to that on which sits Montmains. While Montmains is a premier cru Malantes, which has a similar exposition but perhaps turns a little more to the east, whereas Montmains is south-east, is just classed as village Chablis. This makes the Malantes vineyard a very superior source of village Chablis.
