Christmas Dinner Case
Wines included
Côtes-du-Rhône Bout d'Zan, Mas de Libian 2024
This property and its wines provide great enjoyment. The estate is isolated and surrounded by olive trees, bee hives, lavender and garrigue with its proximity to the Gorges de l'Ardèche. A strong commitment to giving back to the soil, their biodynamic principles have led them to acquire a horse to work the vineyards. sees a cooler profile compared to 2023 and a lightness on the palate that provides a silky texture with bright red berries and a floral, wild flower perfume.
Grove Mill Marlborough Chardonnay 2024
A fresh and inviting nose, showing citrus and white stone fruit, gently rounded out by subtle French oak leads to a palate that's textured and satisfying without feeling heavy. There’s a pleasing savoury note alongside hints of cashew and soft spice, adding depth and polish to the fruit. The warm, dry 2024 growing season delivered excellent fruit quality and that comes through clearly here, with good concentration and a sense of clarity rather than excess. Thoughtful viticulture and a strong focus on sustainability underpin the style, giving a chardonnay that feels modern and well judged. A delicious taste of good value Marlborough.
Beaujolais-Villages Marzy, Domaine de Mont Joly 2024
A joyful, energetic Beaujolais Villages, made with 50/50 whole bunch and destemmed fruit, which is bursting with ripe berries and cherries, with a herbal sappy edge and a fragrant peppery-spice character. A lovely follow-on from the 2023 vintage, which was the first vintage at The Society, this is more mineral in its expression, with powdery tannins and a tangy freshness. Jean-Baptiste Bachevillier is a young grower who does all the vineyard work himself, farming just under five hectares of vines now with organic and agroforestry-inspired methods. While he is the eighth generation of his family to make wine, he is the first since 1873 to own his vines – something he achieved before he was 30!
Au Bon Climat Santa Barbara Pinot Noir 2024
From grapes grown in the hills of Santa Barbara County, California, where the slopes are cooled by Pacific winds, this pinot shows great elegance and poise. A vibrant cherry and redcurrant perfume leads to fine tannins and summer-fruit intensity on the palate, with a hint of herbs and leather developing on the finish.
Geyerhof StockWerk Zweigelt, Kremstal 2025
A delicate, fresh and floral zweigelt that offers a clear departure from the fuller-bodied styles often associated with the grape. Lifted aromas of rose petal, black tea and fresh cherry lead into a palate of crunchy red berries, raspberry and plum, with a subtle blackcurrant note and a gentle umami soy complexity. Light in body but full of character, the fine, fruit-led tannins keep everything poised, making this an effortlessly drinkable, chillable red.
Springfield Estate Life from Stone Sauvignon Blanc, Robertson 2026
One of South Africa's most famous and popular sauvignons, and with good reason, Springfield Estate's Life from Stone is electric, with brilliantly crisp acidity, concentrated lime and gooseberry fruit and a distinctive flinty minerality. It's delicious and revitalising, taking its name from the incredibly rocky vineyard in which it grows. While Robertson is a hot region, it experiences significant diurnal variation which enables the sauvignon to preserve its acidity during the cool nights; ever-quality conscious, this is harvested at night to ensure the grapes come into the winery at low temperatures. The Bruwer family are the custodians of Springfield Estate, ninth-generation descendants of French Huguenots who actually arrived in South Africa from the Loire Valley with vine cuttings in the seventeenth century - presumably with some sauvignon vines!
