Orange Wine from South Africa - Coastal Region
Dark pink in appearance (it could pass as a dark rosé or even light red), this wine is a celebration of the naturally copper-coloured skins of the pinot gris grape - and all the delicious flavours those skins contain. An easy introduction to the diverse world of orange wine from Jeanine and Mick Craven, it is fermented on the skins for seven days in concrete tanks, with one light pumpover a day. Spicy and fragrant, with ginger and rose-petal perfume and flavours of strawberry puree and pomegranate, this has very gentle tannins and a broad mouthfeel with an amaro-like twist of appealing bitterness on the finish.
