Chardonnay From Around the World
Wines included
Jacques Mouton ‘Madeleine’ Chardonnay, Franschhoek 2024
Great-value barrel-fermented and matured chardonnay from Franschhoek that offers crisp citrus fruit alongside impressive cedar and nutmeg spice. Ideal with chicken dishes and best decanted before serving. From one of the oldest established farms in the valley, this will shine with seafood and creamy pasta dishes, and punches well above its weight for the price.
Domaine Gonon, Mâcon La Roche Vineuse 2024
Fresh and pretty Mâcon from a small perfectionist domaine. Apple and melon spectrum of flavours. Unoaked.
Gomotartzi Chardonnay, Bononia Estate 2024
The vineyards here are located on the bank of the River Danube, based in Vidin, and from a highly regarded Bulgarian estate. It's a chardonnay that displays stone-fruit, citrus and blossom notes.
Kipu Gualtallary Chardonnay 2025
Bright, fresh, taut, lemony chardonnay made from high-altitude vines in the 1350m Aluvia single vineyard in the exciting Gualtallary region. 70% is from tank fermented wines for crispness while 30% is fermented in used barrels to add some mid-palate weight without masking the crystalline fruit character. Made by Cristobal Undurraga.
The Society's Exhibition Margaret River Chardonnay 2025
Maritime-influenced Margaret River is renowned for chardonnay of purity and texture, combining southern hemisphere generosity with freshness and real depth of flavour. Made for us by acclaimed winemaker Larry Cherubino at Robert Oatley, this is a beautifully assured expression of the style. The nose balances ripe peach with citrus zest, subtle toast, vanilla pod and a gently savoury edge. On the palate it is focused and precise yet generously flavoured, with bright acidity cutting through the richness to give tension and drive. There’s real complexity here, the fruit and oak perfectly measured, finishing long, clean and highly appetising. A classic Western Australian chardonnay that manages to be both rich and refreshing, and above all, thoroughly delicious.
The Society's French Chardonnay 2025
A cross-regional chardonnay from France and the best of two worlds. Fruit from warmer areas of southern France provides body and weight, with grapes sourced from the foothills of the Pyrenees adding freshness and elegance. Dry, clean and crisp, this would be perfect with roast chicken or quiches.
