It’s true that most Brits know the Canary Islands for their beaches, package holidays and dependable year-round sunshine, but increasingly, wine lovers are discovering that these islands are also home to some of the most exhilarating wines coming out of not just Spain, but the world, revived by a new generation of very talented winemakers. Envínate are perhaps one of the most eminent and celebrated of this new crowd, and deservedly so. It’s a pleasure, therefore, to bring you the second instalment of our offer from this remarkable grower, featuring the newly bottled 2025 vintage of their electric, volcanic wines.
Order by midday, Wednesday 21st October
Envínate was founded in 2012 by four friends who met while studying oenology, their philosophy is simple: to make low-intervention, honest wines from very old vines rooted in extraordinary terroirs. While their work now spans several Spanish regions, this offer focuses on the Tenerife project, led by the earnest and erudite winemaker Roberto Santana, former consultant for Suertes del Marques, who is a great advocate of fresh, Atlantic-style wines that reflect local soils. Here, ungrafted vines often more than a century old cling to steep, high-altitude slopes of volcanic sand and red basalt, many still trained in the island’s ancient cordón trenzado method.
This collection of three whites and two reds come from the very small but great-quality 2025 vintage, capturing the islands’ Atlantic-inflected signature: taut, saline and mineral, yet full of complexity and drinkability. From textured, linear listan blancos (palomino) with salt-kissed citrus and wet-stone to nervy, savoury reds with crunchy fruit, vivid violet perfume, and elegant fine tannins, these are wines of precision and personality. With production exceedingly small and demand soaring, this is your chance to secure some of the most exciting wines from one of Spain’s most dynamic terroirs. I’ve been completely charmed, and I hope you enjoy drinking them as much as I do.
