Fine Wine Team's Christmas
Wines included
Château Langoa Barton, Saint-Julien 2016
A harmonious, well-balanced wine with hints of blackcurrant and oyster shell on the nose and a graceful, layered palate. A very fine Langoa with the structure to mature gracefully for many years yet.
Domaine de Bellene, Nuits-Saint-Georges Premier Cru Aux Chaignots 2019
Opulent and voluptuous and balanced. A hedonistic wine from the north side of the appellation which shares its characteristics more with Vosne than Nuits. From a 0.14ha vineyard planted in 1985.
Gigondas, Domaine du Clos des Tourelles, Perrin 2019
Weighty, full-flavoured Gigondas from a plot in the heart of the village. Complex and rich with a mass of ripe, dark, figgy fruit. Outstanding in 2019 which is a vintage that is powerful, concentrated and structured yet the best wines have performed well at bringing balance.
Domaine William Fèvre, Chablis Premier Cru Montée de Tonnerre 2022
Bright, firm and long, and with the typical linear palate of this fine cru. Made from 2.2 hectares split between Côte de Bréchain, Pied d`Aloue and Chapelot.
Long Meadow Ranch Anderson Valley Chardonnay 2020
Beautiful poised chardonnay from the Pacific-fog-filled vineyards of Anderson Valley in California. With a struck match minerality, green apple and lemon fruit this is a serious wine with the structure to age further.
Champagne Taittinger Comtes de Champagne Blanc de Blancs 2006
2006 was a momentous vintage for Taittinger as it coincided with Pierre-Emmanuel Taittinger buying back the estate and bringing it once again into family control. Comtes de Champagne is only produced when the vintage is exceptional, and made entirely from chardonnay grapes sourced from Grand Cru vineyards in the Cote de Blancs. 2006 is a benchmark Comtes de Champagne, embodying Taittinger's house style of purity and elegance perfectly. It is immediately appealing with notes of waxy citrus fruit and brioche on the nose, followed by a rich and creamy palate of toasted tea cakes and lemon curd. The brightness of the vintage comes through beautifully. A very fine mousse with incredible length, this is a perfect match to oysters or seabass tartare.
