Fogwell Syrah, Western Cape 2023
We are thrilled to offer this wine as UK exclusive. A collaboration between Chris Alheit and his close friend, William Fogwell, this syrah is normally only available in South Africa. This comes from three separate sites including the Karibib farm (where Lukas van Loggerenberg gets the fruit for his superb 'Graft' syrah), a site just north of Porseleinberg in the Swartland and False Bay. Classically styled with more than a nod to the northern Rhône this is intensely fragrant and spicy with sappy tannins and bright acid enveloping the redcurrant and bramble core. A sensational treat from the master of chenin blanc who vowed to never make a red!
