Fontanasanta Manzoni Bianco, Foradori, Vigneti delle Dolomiti 2024
Orange Wine from Italy - Trentino Alto Adige
Pale golden in colour (the fermentation takes place on the grape skins), this beguiling biodynamic wine has a delicately herbal aroma, with a touch of savoury cedariness in the background, vivid, lemony acidity on the palate and a lovely, gently gripping texture. Manzoni bianco is a cross between riesling and pinot bianco, and loves the clayey-limestone soils of the Fontanasanta vineyards in the hills above Trento. Aspects of both grape varieties can be seen here in this characterful expression, which really comes into its own two to three years after harvest.

Elisabetta Foradori
The teroldego grape is a speciality of the Campo Rotaliano and Rovereto areas and Elisabetta Foradori has spent 25 years carefully selecting and nurturing the best selections of teroldego vines. She is without doubt the finest producer of this classy variety.
Her teroldego vineyards, on alluvial soils, are cultivated biodynamically, and this naturally productive variety needs tight pruning so there is much to do by hand. In recent decades teroldego planting was largely reduced to one high-yielding clones by most growers, but Elisabetta has painstakingly gathered and cultivated the best quality biotypes and now makes wine from 15 different examples to offer great diversity. She also grows a little of the local Trentino grape nosiola and a Veneto grape, manzoni bianco, both white, on the calcareous-clay hills of Cognola.
Elisabetta's grandfather founded the estate in the 1930s and Elisabetta took the running of the vineyard from her mother, who in turn took up the reins when Elisabetta's father passed away in 1976. Her family have deep roots here and Elisabetta is a passionate advocate for the land and its welfare and has farmed with Demeter biodynamic certification since 2009.
