Gabriel Boudier 'Fontbonne' Crème de Cassis de Dijon 50cl
0 star rating
0 Reviews
The blackcurrant (cassis) harvest in Dijon perfumes the air every year, and the best distillers are able to capture this aromatically heady experience. This Crème de Cassis only uses fresh blackcurrant in its production and really is a treat over ice cream, or mixed with white wine as a Kir, or Crémant for a Kir Royale.

Gabriel Boudier
This famous producer of cassis was originally founded in 1874 as Fontbonne and the company were pioneers of liqueurs and crème de fruits, and in 1909 they were acquired by Gabriel Boudier who gave the company his name. In 1936 Gabriel’s widow sold the business to Marcel Battault who decided that the name of Gabriel Boudier was so well known that he ought to retain it. Based in Dijon since day one, though they have moved once within the town, they have become famous all over the world for the quality of their range. They use only fresh fruit, freezing it as soon as it is picked if necessary to retain freshness as they macerate and distil regularly and the fruits might not always be in season. The alcohol by volume of their liqueurs is a little higher than many of their competitors, at 18%, because they believe that this higher level gives them superior extraction of flavour, aroma and colour. The company today remains completely focussed on liqueur and crème de fruits production. Their crème de cassis de Dijon, a protected designation, is made from local blackcurrants only and is their most famous liqueur, but they make an extensive range much used by mixologists and chefs around the globe.
