Wines included
Weinert Carrascal Corte Tinto Mendoza 2018
One of our members` favourite Argentine reds. A blend of 40% malbec, 35% cabernet sauvignon and 25% merlot, this was matured for a year in large old foudres and six months in concrete until the bright fruit flavours have been transformed to gentle, mellow notes of cedar, leather and tobacco.
Undurraga Finca Las Lomas Leyda Pinot Noir 2021
Lovely ripe and juicy pinot from Undurraga's own estate in Leyda, Chile, from the excellent cool 2021 vintage. This was matured for about nine months in barrel, 25% new and 75% second and third use.
Château Bel Air Perponcher Réserve, Bordeaux Blanc 2021
A consistent Bordeaux performer year after year, this is a fresh, aromatic blend of sauvignon and semillon with a touch of muscadelle for added character.
Château La Gravière, Côte de Bourg 2018
Cracking modern-style Bordeaux that delivers plenty of cassis-fruit sweetness but retains a food-friendly tannic structure and grip. Bordeaux buyer Tim Sykes singled out its style and ‘lovely polish` and it was duly voted a Wine Champion for 2022.
Vin de France 'Résilience' Chenin Blanc, Alexandre Cady 2021
A wine born of friendship and determination, when the Cady family's vineyards and winery were hit by the tragic double whammy of a devastating fire and damaging spring frost in 2021. This is a precise young chenin, crisp, dry and refreshing.
Fronton Les Petits Cailloux, Domaine Le Roc 2019
From an exemplary estate in this small and scattered appellation close to Toulouse in south-west France, this blend is made up by the local negrette with syrah in support, a formula that works especially well. Utterly gorgeous expression of fleshy, blackberry and cherry fruit.
