The Society's Chianti Rùfina 2022

Keep an eye out for more Rùfina Chianti's as this cooler subregion is proving a great bet with warming summers. Great-value and made exclusively for us by the Grati family, it has a cherry and leather scent, with a medium-body, and more red berry, dry leaves, and balsamic character on the palate. It's a marvellous choice to match with a beautifully baked pizza, from four seasons to four cheese.

Italy £11.50 per bottle
2025 - 2027

The Society's Sicilian Reserve Red 2022

Produced for us from carefully selected nero d'Avola grapes from both the Ragusa and Agrigento regions of Sicily, where the Mediterranean climate, tempered by a cooling coastal breeze, produces full-bodied red wines. Aged in French oak barrels with a further 12 months' maturation in bottle before release, this is a deep-coloured wine, with rich red and black fruit on the nose and palate. Smooth, generous and mellow but with good structure, this gives plenty of flavour for your money and would be a good match for grilled meats, burgers or Mediterranean vegetables.

Italy £9.95 per bottle
2025 - 2028

The Society's Montepulciano d'Abruzzo 2024

This much-loved Montepulciano's ripe cherry and blackberry perfume leaps out of the glass, while the palate has a lovely fruit richness, accentuated by a twist of Mediterranean herbs, and a refreshing and firm dry finish. One of our Wine Society Pioneers, Contesa is rated in the top 100 most sustainable companies by their local government agency. They use pheromones to confuse local vine moths when they're mating as an alternative to chemical pest control, encourage wildflowers and grasses to attract pollinators and built a solar power plant on their winery roof which currently generates 50kW and covers 60% of their energy needs, and plan to build another 30kW of panels that will bring this up to 80%. Furthermore, Contesa use bottles produced entirely within Italy and of at least 58% recycled glass to reduce their carbon footprint.

Italy £8.95 per bottle
2025 - 2027

The Society's Valpolicella Ripasso 2023

Full-bodied blueberry and cherry-scented Ripasso where the wine has been 'passed over' the dried grapes that were used in the production of Amarone, adding richness and depth to this vibrant leather-spiced Valpolicella. This wine hails from the Valpantena, a valley just north of Verona, home of the striking Roman amphitheatre, the Arena di Verona, that sits proudly in the heart of this famous city and therefore on our label.

Italy £11.95 per bottle
2026 - 2029

The Society's Barbera d'Asti Superiore 2023

This barbera is from the beautiful Cascinone vineyard in Piedmont, Italy. Bursting with ripe juicy red fruit, this medium-bodied red has had time in large old oak casks, softening the tannins. A versatile food wine and particularly good with tomato-based dishes and the porcini mushrooms that are so integral to Piemontese cuisine and which we depict on the label.

Italy £9.95 per bottle
2026 - 2028

The Society's Primitivo 2024

This bright, unoaked, medium-bodied Italian primitivo was made especially for us by historic co-operative, Produttori di Manduria in Puglia. With notes of ripe blackberry and plum, fresh Mediterranean herbs and a touch of dark chocolate, this has refreshing acidity and is drier than many primitivos, making it brilliantly versatile at the dinner table.
