Krone Cap Classique Blanc de Blancs, Tulbagh 2022

Sparkling Wine from South Africa - Coastal Region
0 star rating 0 Reviews
The debut vintage of this superb Blanc de Blancs from Cap Classique specialists, Krone, made entirely from fruit grown on their 300-year-old Twee Jonge Gezellen estate in Tulbagh. Cap Classique is the name given to South African sparkling wine made in the traditional method, like Champagne, with a second fermentation in bottle and a minimum of 12 months of ageing on the yeast lees to qualify for the category. This benchmark Blanc de Blancs has a significant 32 months of lees ageing, giving the wine an intense toasted hazelnut and honeycomb profile and a very gentle, fine mousse, with flavours of apple and yellow peach. Made in the Brut style, the finish is dry and refreshing, with lovely persistence. While this is delicious now, this has the potential to age beautifully, developing further complexity in bottle. In South Africa, Krone's reputation for Cap Classique is formidable and they have been pioneers of single-site expressions of Cap Classique. This Blanc de Blancs give you a great insight into what they're capable of, and the value is remarkable.
