La Ferme de Sato 'Sur Les Nuages' Central Otago Pinot Noir 2022
This is a silky and ethereal pinot noir which demonstrates the combination of structure and finesse that put Central Otago on the map in the first place. Produced using 14% whole bunches, bringing definition and delicate herbaceousness, as well as having spent a total of 19 months in French oak, which has brought great support to the fruit and a subtle layer of earthy spices. The nose is immediately charming with pure cherry fruit, brambles, violets and notes of rose petals. The palate has real presence but remains lifted and vibrant, with excellent structural acidity balancing the grippy Central Otago tannins and maintaining incredible freshness. Towards the finish there is cranberry, red cherry and a beautiful forest floor character. Serious pinot in the upper echelons of New World examples of the variety.
