Leeds - Italy Growers walkaround
From the Alps to Sicily, Italy is home to an extraordinary array of grapes, styles and winemaking traditions. This relaxed walkaround tasting brings producers from across the country together for a chance to explore the breadth of Italian wine in one evening. Discover everything from fresh, mineral whites to elegant reds and more powerful styles, meet the makers behind the wines, and find a few new favourites along the way.
Italy is one of the most rewarding countries to explore through wine. With hundreds of indigenous grape varieties, a remarkable range of landscapes and centuries of winemaking tradition, there’s always another corner to discover.
This walkaround tasting brings together producers from across Italy, taking you from the cool alpine north to the sun-drenched south and islands. Expect fresh, mineral whites, fragrant and elegant reds, richer, more structured styles and plenty in between – all shaped by the grapes, landscapes and traditions of their respective regions.
With producers on hand throughout the evening, you’ll have the chance to meet the people behind the wines, hear their stories and ask questions about everything from vineyard sites to winemaking choices. It’s an opportunity to go beyond the familiar and discover some of the lesser-known grapes and regions that make Italian wine so fascinating.
Whether you’re already well acquainted with Italian wine or simply keen to explore further, this is a relaxed and sociable way to taste your way around the country. Come with an open mind, taste widely and you may well leave with a new favourite.
These events are all about ensuring our members get to taste as many of our wines as possible. To ensure our tastings and events run smoothly and are enjoyed by all, we would ask members and guests to:
• Be respectful of others by moving away from the tables once a sample has been poured, unless talking with a producer or staff member
• Be aware of others waiting to try the wines when talking to producers and staff members
• Not wear perfume or aftershave as this can make it difficult for others to taste the wines
• Avoid crowding around the spittoons to keep them accessible to others
• Avoid bringing large bags into the room or wearing back packs, for the comfort of others
• Be mindful of your alcohol intake and make use of the spittoons and water provided.
Please note that:
• We operate a Challenge25 policy and you or your guest/s may therefore be asked to show ID to confirm being over 18. We reserve the right to refuse service should it be deemed necessary.
• We have a duty of care to Society, venue and agency staff, winemakers and producers in attendance, as well as to members and guests. Any inappropriate behaviour or harassment will therefore not be tolerated.
