Magnum of Black Chalk 'Eighty Nine Point Six', Hampshire 2020

Sparkling Wine from England - Hampshire
0 star rating 0 Reviews
This 100% chardonnay from Black Chalk in Hampshire is a celebration of chalk. Specifically, the 89.6-million-year-old chalk on which this boutique winery is rooted. With 80% of the base wine fermented in stainless steel and 20% in old 228-litre French oak before 56-months on the yeast lees with no malolactic fermentation, this magnum-only Prestige Cuvée is crisp, taut, linear, and exceptionally complex. With a distinct saline note alongside flavours of almond, buttered pastry, and lemon zest there's great poise and elegance to an otherwise powerful wine. Outstanding work from two of the most exciting winemakers in the UK – Jacob Ledley and Zoe Driver.
