Maison Champy, Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru 2004

White Wine from France - Burgundy
0 star rating 0 Reviews
Recently sourced from an exclusive cellar of impeccable provenance. Pale lemon-gold in colour with remarkable brightness and clarity for its age. The nose is fresh and expressive, showing gentle nutty oak influence without any suggestion of oxidation. Layers of ripe lemon curd emerge alongside waxy notes, pithy grapefruit and quince, creating a profile that is both complex and inviting. There are clear signs of maturity beginning to appear, yet the wine retains an almost surprising freshness and vitality. The acidity remains beautifully judged, still providing precision and lift throughout. A revelation, and a wonderful example of exactly how mature white Burgundy should evolve – developing richness and complexity whilst retaining energy and balance. Wonderful.
