Guigal ‘La-Las’ 2022

Among the Rhône’s greatest wines

Guigal ‘La-Las’ 2022

The Guigal estate is one of the most celebrated northern Rhône properties. Despite their size they continue to earn the respect of their peers and the loyalty of drinkers. It is their prestigious range known as the La-Las that has earned them a cult-like following. The La-Las are produced from one of the steepest and most highly revered vineyards in the world, that of Côte-Rôtie. Rather excitingly Guigal have now introduced a fourth wine to the La-La range, La Reynarde. The name refers to the stream called ‘Reynard’ that divides Côte Brune and Côte Blonde. The grapes originate from a lieu-dit (plot) within the steep, south facing slopes of the Côte Brune. The Côte Brune tends to produce wines that are rich and intense from an iron-rich schist soil.

The 2022 vintage was warm and dry throughout the growing season leading to low yields and concentrated berries. This has produced wines that are structured and with a firm tannin grip, but still with sufficient freshness that will enable the wines to age for years to come.

These wines command a premium, are highly sought after and are made in limited volumes. They are some of the most iconic wines coming from the Rhône and made with precision and care. Leave these wines to age in the cellar for a decade or more and their northern soul should shine through.
