Red Wine from Spain - Aragon & the North
A single-varietal Cariñena from a 40-year-old parcel on very stony soils, capturing one of the most appealing expressions of this distinctive Aragón DO. Crafted by renowned winemaker Jorge Navascués, the wine shows finesse and aromatic complexity, with a firm structure, Mediterranean herbs, and a light, lifted finish. There’s a touch of rustic charm, with medicinal herbal notes framing beautifully perfumed florals and fruit. Confusingly, Cariñena is both the name of the grape (also known as Carignan) and the DO itself, the grape better known as Carignan in France, and works well in warmer climates.
