Massif d'Uchaux Vieilles Vignes, Château Saint Estève 2020

Red Wine from France - Rhone
0 star rating 0 Reviews
The crop was so small in 2018 that all the old vines were brought together to make just the one top wine. Rich, thick and bursting with blackberry fruit, this is made from roughly half and half syrah and grenache. Drink from 2022 to 2032. 14.5%

Château Saint-Estève

This was one of the first estates in this part of France to bottle its own wines in the 1960s. The extensive, organically certified vineyards border on the Massif d'Uchaux, a large and heavily wooded range of hills that border the left bank of the Rhône north of Orange.

Constant cool breezes create a definite microclimate here and perfect conditions for ripening grapes, especially grenache and syrah. A few years ago this was officially recognised with the creation of a new villages appellation, Massif d'Uchaux. Saint-Estève reserve this for their top wines.
