Barbecue Bottles Case
Wines included
Casa La Rad Solarce, Rioja 2018
This is exactly what modern, gorgeous Rioja is all about. A full, plump and generously fruity red from a new young team who own vineyards in the southern part of this great Spanish region.
Château d'Emeringes, Beaujolais-Villages Vieilles Vignes 2020
This château is a magnificent edifice, now sadly in disrepair, high up in the northern hills near Juliénas. The cool spot makes an intense, deeply coloured, refreshing style of Beaujolais that can outshine many a cru.
Château Monconseil Gazin, Blaye Côtes de Bordeaux 2018
A generous and velvety Bordeaux red made by the highly regarded Jean-Michel Baudet. Two-thirds merlot with the balance cabernet sauvignon and a splash of malbec for added richness.
Gnarly Head Lodi Old-Vine Zinfandel 2019
A full-throttle bottle of California zinfandel is a classic choice for the barbecue. This old-vine version has a vibrant nose of cherry compôte and spiced plums. Soft tannins and a medium body support a sweet core of berry fruit with vanilla spice.
Undurraga Cauquenes Estate Grenache 2018
This is the best vintage of this wine so far. Rich and ripe Chilean grenache with a floral nose, and round succulent palate of ripe fruit.
Withington Malbec, Darling 2019
Made by an Englishman abroad (with the help of Darling Cellars) this is a delicious blue-fruited, minty South African malbec, still rare in the Cape as a single varietal.
