Marc Kent, Managing Partner & Technical Director of Boekenhoutskloof in South Africa, makers of the ever popular Chocolate Block blend, has teamed up with Rita Marques, a dynamic and talented young Portuguese winemaker, to buy a small winery in Casais de Douro near Pinhão, where they are bottling small quantities of white and red wines from the 2018 and 2019 vintages.

Join us for an insightful evening exploring these exclusive wines featured in our Italy, Spain and Portugal offer this year.

Whilst you won't need specific wines to enjoy the event, we do encourage you to buy one or both of them to enjoy during the event.

Catherine Housden

Catherine is our Tastings and Events Host at The Wine Society and joined the team in 2019 from Member Services where she was a valued Wine Adviser. Catherine hosts online and in person events across a range of themes and styles.

Jo Locke MW

Jo Locke MW has been a buyer at the Wine Society since 2004 and looks after Alsace, the Loire, South Africa and Portugal (including Port and Madeira). Jo joined the wine trade after completing a degree in French and became a Master of Wine in 1990.  

Now one of our most popular offerings, these events are designed to give members an insight into wineries by hearing from those on the ground. Often there will be wines to complement the event, though buying these wines is not compulsory to attend or enjoy the event, and these sessions can be watched with a cup of tea if you would prefer!

How do I use Zoom? 

After successfully registering for an event, we will send you a link to the event via email and all you then need to do is follow this link directly to the event, no passwords required. Please see our ‘How to use Zoom’ guide for more information. 

How much do these events cost? 

Our virtual events are free to register and attend. Optional food and wine suggestions are advertised on the event page.
