Wines included
Côtes-du-Rhône Sablières, Domaine des Escaravailles 2022
This is a grenache-dominated blend from the village of Rasteau. Full-bodied but well balanced and with plenty of flavours happening in he glass. Expect ripe brambles, tapenade and wild herbs. Domaine des Escaravailles is a big family affair grouping together a number of vineyards, all planted at high-altitude between the villages of Cairanne and Roaix. Rasteau is in the middle and is where the estate has its main holdings. Daughter Madeline Ferran is now fully established as a winemaker and is adding her mark on the wines, producing fresh and lively examples from this stunning region.
The Society's Rioja Crianza 2021
Rioja is Spain's pre-eminent wine region, renowned for its graceful, stylish wines, mainly from the tempranillo grape. The Society's Rioja is made in the classic, traditional style that Society members so adore. It is an exclusive blend from the team behind Cosme Palacio, located in Laguardia of Rioja Alta. Blended from a selection of their best barrels, this comforting crianza spends 15 months in a combination of French and American oak, which gives it its signature vanilla, savoury, spicy character. The fruit is juicy and polished with dark plums and red cherries. No wonder members keep coming back for more! The label for this member favourite pays homage to the cooperage tools that are used to make the traditional vessels the wine is aged in, which is so important to achieving this beloved style.
The Society's Sicilian Reserve Red 2022
From beautiful sun-drenched organic vineyards, the nero d’Avola fruit used for this wine is really seriously good. Picked often at night to retain freshness, it is first fermented in a state-of-the art modern winery, before all going to small oak barrels for extended ageing in Feudo Arancio’s underground cellars before blending. The bespoke blend changes each year, and we are always astonished by the value the result offers. Bold yet balanced, it’s a wine that so many of our members love, and its winning performance in our 2026 Wine Champions tastings showed why. ‘Soft, full and ripe’ with ‘plump black fruit and a hint of coffee’, it performs a brilliant balancing act between fruity generosity and oak-influenced spice and structure.
The Society's Sicilian White 2025
This unique blend especially created for The Wine Society is 80% grillo for lovely rich apricot and peach notes, with 20% carricante to lift the freshness while adding an elegant mineral note to the perfume. 2025 has created wines with real tension and good concentration. One of our Wine Society Pioneers for their work in sustainability, Rallo have been certified organic for 100ha of their own vineyards since 1994, among the first in Sicily to be so. They use only wild ferments and minimal sulphites, while the vines are drip irrigated, and water used in the facilities is purified and returned to the municipal system. Their electricity is 65% wind power, and they have plans to be 90% self-sufficient with the installation of solar panels. 10% of the estate is rewilded land, and the green cover between the vines no longer needs seeding and feeds grazing sheep in winter. All winery waste is recorded, they make compost from 50% of vineyard waste while the rest goes to a local distillery. All plastic, card and paper is recycled. 30 local families work here, while seasonal workers are hired direct, given contracts and paid into bank accounts, treating them the same as permanent staff. It's an impressive approach to be applauded.
The Society's Greek White 2025
Medium-bodied, unoaked, aromatic blend of moschofilero - which provides rose and peach aromatics – and roditis – giving stone-fruit flavour and body - that's become one of our most loved and best-selling white wines in recent years. 2025 was a vintage that produced small volumes but outstanding quality, and we're confident that this blend - put together by us and Leonidas Nassiakos at Kintonis Winery in the Peloponnese - is potentially our finest yet. The Moschofilero comes from high-altitude vineyards in Aigialia is one of Greece's most characterful with bright, refreshing acidity and heady perfume. Roditis is more of a work-horse grape, but when handled well (as it is here) with quality in mind it provides great texture and stonefruit richness.
The Society's Chinon 2025
Juicy, floral, and appetising Loire cabernet franc made for us by Maison Bougrier in the young, fresh 'brasserie' style we have been enjoying for a few vintages now. The 2025 vintage is looking like an outstanding year for this late-ripening varietal where the warm year has provided a wine of deep colour with aromas of fresh blackberry and redcurrants, white pepper spice and a lovely hint of dried herb with a juicy, medium-bodied finish.
The Society's Loire Sauvignon Blanc 2025
Blended from across the Loire in the warm 2025 vintage The Society's Loire Sauvignon is crisp and refreshing with soft stonefruit, grapefruit, and passionfruit notes without the overt herbaceousness of cooler vintages. Produced by longstanding partners Bougrier this is easy drinking, juicy, and lemony with hints of bay leaf and grapefruit, with part of the fruit sourced from Touraine, giving chalky character. Great with fresh fish or as an aperitif.
The Society's Picpoul de Pinet 2025
Picpoul de Pinet produces a clean, full-flavoured Languedoc white, lovely on its own or with olives and ideal with oysters, which is no coincidence since its spiritual home is by the sea, behind the oyster beds of the Bassin de Thau. It is refreshing, crisp and light-bodied.
The Society's French Pinot Noir 2025
This is a pinot to delight the senses: fresh, round and fruity with a hint of cherry and plenty of charm. Finding a good pinot noir under £10 is one of the Holy Grails of wine. Thanks to the sterling work of Jean-Marc Darbon (Maison Aujoux), who travels extensively throughout the south of France to source the best raw material, we are able to come up with a wine with real pinot noir character year after year. Much of it is sourced from around Limoux, which works well in years of heatwaves. Best drunk a little cool.
Ann Faure White, Stellenbosch 2025
This revitalising, refreshing white blend comprises 87% chenin and 13% viognier, all fermented and aged in concrete and stainless steel. It has expressive yellow fruit, with a tangy apple character on the palate and a stony minerality on the finish. Ann Faure Wines is a new label from Jeanine and Mick Craven, who have built up a wonderful reputation for authentic, site-specific wines from Stellenbosch. Ann Faure represents a departure, however, in that in these wines they are blending sites and grape varieties for the first time - and the result is terrific. The fruit comes from Stellenbosch vineyards they have worked with for years, from excellent growers, and the wine seriously overdelivers at this price point.
Beaujolais, J.M. Aujoux 2023
A one-off parcel of a generous, ripe-fruited Beaujolais from the sunny 2023 vintage. Supple and medium-bodied, this balances juicy black cherry fruit with a cool-graphite character and tangy freshness.
Clay Creek Vineyards California Chardonnay 2024
With most of the fruit for this chardonnay coming from the cooler Clarksburg AVA in the Sacramento Delta, just east of San Francisco Bay, this has lovely freshness. Peach, pineapple and mango flavours are well balanced by generous vanilla oak on this great anyday chardonnay.
